How does your donation to New Hope Church matter?
Look around you...people are enjoying a cup of coffee and conversation during Church gatherings, children have material in their classes that teaches them about Jesus, our church office is open Tuesday - Friday mornings where work is done and services are provided.
In the Valley...ministries like Youth for Christ, Feed my Sheep, Pregnancy Resource Center and others, receive support from New Hope Church so that they can continue the vital ministry God has called them to.
Far away...missionaries, medical personnel, and teachers are doing the task of bringing the Gospel to those who have not yet heard.
How does this happen? Through people, just like you, recognizing that God is generous and has been faithful, following the Biblical direction of giving their tithes and offerings. We have a tremendous opportunity to proclaim the gospel by giving generously. Giving invigorates our devotion to Christ and frees us from the tyranny of consumerism. It provides an outlet for compassion and allows us to proclaim His sufficiency and provision. As people of faith, we give faithfully.
A biblical tithe is 10% of one's income given back to God. An offering is anything over our tithe that is sacrificially given.
When we participate in giving through our tithes and offerings:
We are expressing to God our trust in Him.
We are expressing to God our thankfulness for His provision of income.
We are expressing worship because we know that He is worthy of our worship.
We are being obedient to the Bible's teaching in handling money.
John P. Rockefeller, Sr:
"Yes, I tithe, and I would like to tell you how it all came about. I had to work as a small boy to help support my mother. My first wages amounted to $1.50 per week. The first week after I went to work, I took the $1.50 home to my mother and she held the money in her lap and explained to me that she would be happy if I could give a tenth of it to the Lord. I did, and from that week until this day I have tithed every dollar God has entrusted to me. And I want to say, if I had not tithed the first dollar I made I would not have tithed the first million dollars I made. Tell your readers to train the children to tithe, and they will grow up to be faithful stewards of the Lord."
